SSC GD Constable is the largest government recruitment in India by applicants — regularly 50 lakh+ for CAPF constable posts across BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA and SSF. Eligibility (as it has stood in recent cycles)
- Qualification: Class 10 pass from a recognised board.
- Age: 18–23 years, with the usual category relaxations (OBC +3, SC/ST +5). The notification fixes the exact cut-off date.
- Physical standards: height/chest norms differ by category and region; the PET is a race (5 km in 24 min for men, 1.6 km in 8½ min for women in recent cycles). Verify the exact standards in the official notification before you rely on them.

The CBE decides your merit. Twenty of its 80 questions — 25% of the paper — are GK and current affairs, and that is the section that separates ranks, because maths and reasoning at Class-10 level converge across serious candidates by exam day.

The 5-month plan (September notification → January CBE)
Months 1–2 — coverage. One pass over Class-10 maths (percentages, ratio, averages, time-speed-distance) and reasoning families (series, coding, analogies). GK starts day one: daily quiz plus current-affairs digest — this runs every single day of the five months.
Months 3–4 — speed. Everything timed: 20-question sectional sprints at 40 seconds a question. The CBE gives you 45 seconds per question; at −0.25 negative marking, attempt on certainty or genuine elimination, never blind. (The expected-value maths.)

Language note
The CBE is offered in Hindi, English and (since recent cycles) thirteen regional languages. The English/Hindi section tests basic comprehension in whichever you pick — choose the language you actually read fastest, not the one that feels prestigious.
