About Coast Guard Yantrik
Yantriks are the Coast Guard's technical sailors in the Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics branches. They are recruited through the same CGEPT as Naviks, but need an engineering diploma. The CGEPT 01/2026 advertisement listed 60 Yantrik vacancies (30 Mechanical, 11 Electrical and 19 Electronics) for male Indian citizens.
Eligibility
Age limit
General category: 18–22 years.

- ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- SC/ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) relaxation applies only where posts are reserved for them.

Other conditions
- In the CGEPT 01/2026 advertisement, Yantrik candidates had to be born between 1 March 2004 and 1 March 2008.
- Candidates without the original diploma by Stage II must bring a provisional certificate signed by the college head, and must show the original diploma at Stage III.
- Exam fee: Rs 300. Candidates applying against SC/ST vacancies are exempt.
- Minimum height is 157 cm, with relaxations for listed regions.

What they ask
Yantrik candidates write Section I (60 Class 10 level questions in 45 minutes) and one 50-question trade section on their diploma branch in 30 minutes. The advertisement set pass marks of 30 in Section I and 20 in the trade section for UR/EWS/OBC (27 and 17 for SC/ST), and both must be cleared separately. There is no negative marking. Merit is drawn from Stage I marks, so the trade section carries real weight.
How to prepare
- Revise the core subjects of your diploma branch semester by semester, since the trade section is set at diploma level with 50 questions.
- Do not neglect Section I: you must pass it separately, and its Maths block alone has 20 questions.
- Attempt every question, as there is no negative marking in the CGEPT online exam.
- Keep your diploma mark sheets for every semester ready, because the advertisement asks for them at document verification.
