About Agniveervayu

The Indian Air Force enrols airmen as Agniveervayu for four years under the Agnipath scheme. Intake 02/2027 invited unmarried men and women to register online from 6 to 26 July 2026. Selection runs through an online test (Phase I), then a physical fitness test, two adaptability tests and a medical (Phase II), with state-wise shortlisting and merit lists.

Eligibility

Date of birth

Born between 1 July 2005 and 1 January 2010, both dates included.

Qualification

Science Subjects: 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and English with 50% aggregate and 50% in English; or a three-year engineering diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or IT) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English; or a two-year vocational course with Physics and Maths, 50% aggregate and 50% in English. Other than Science Subjects: 10+2 in any stream, or a two-year vocational course, with 50% aggregate and 50% in English. Science-eligible candidates can also sit the non-science paper in the same sitting.

Other conditions

• Date of birth: between 1 July 2005 and 1 January 2010 (both dates included). The upper age limit on the date of enrolment is 22 years.
• Only unmarried candidates can enrol, and they must not marry during the four-year engagement.
• Shortlisting and the provisional select list are prepared state-wise, so you must produce a domicile certificate for the state you chose (or the relevant certificate for children of Air Force personnel).
• Minimum height: 152 cm for men and women. Women from the North East or hilly regions of Uttarakhand get a lower limit of 147 cm.

1. Phase I: online test (objective, bilingual except the English paper)
2. Phase II: document check and Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I 1.6 km run; PFT-II push-ups, sit-ups and squats for men, sit-ups and squats for women)

What they ask

The Phase I test follows the 10+2 CBSE syllabus: Science candidates face Physics, Maths and English in 60 minutes, and others face English plus Reasoning and General Awareness in 45 minutes. Each correct answer earns 1 mark and each wrong answer loses 0.25, and you must clear every paper separately on normalised marks. Cut-offs are applied state by state, so the marks needed to reach Phase II differ between states. In Phase II the run and exercises (a shorter set for women) and the two adaptability tests have to be cleared before the medical.

How to prepare

• Revise your Class 11 and 12 CBSE Physics and Maths textbooks, since the notification says the Science paper follows that syllabus.
• Because you must pass each paper on its own, do not neglect English: practise grammar and comprehension even if you are strong in Science.
• Start running now and bring your 1.6 km time well under 7 minutes (men) or 8 minutes (women) before the Phase II call.
• Choose your exam streams carefully at registration: Science-eligible candidates can take both papers in one 85-minute sitting.
