CAPF Assistant Commandant preparation needs a written-paper plan and a physical-test plan. Leaving the second one until the written result can create a problem that extra reading will not solve.
This guide follows the CAPF AC 2026 notification and was checked on 20 September 2026. Use the current cycle's instructions, including the order of the medical examination, rather than an old selection diagram.
Start with the official sequence
The 2026 scheme has written papers, Physical Standards Tests and Physical Efficiency Tests, an interview for eligible candidates, and medical standards tests for candidates who appeared in the interview. The interview carries 150 marks. Final merit uses the written and interview marks, subject to the remaining requirements. See the official CAPF AC 2026 notice, Appendix I.
That order matters when you organise documents and reporting instructions. Do not assume that qualifying one stage settles every fitness or eligibility question.
Two papers, two types of practice
Paper I is General Ability and Intelligence: 250 marks, objective, two hours. Paper II is General Studies, Essay and Comprehension: 200 marks, three hours. The essay component permits English or Hindi; the language/comprehension components specified in the notice require English. Paper II is evaluated only for candidates meeting the Paper I minimum fixed by UPSC. The same official notice contains the component rules.
For Paper I, review a timed test by topic and error type. A wrong answer from an unfamiliar concept needs reading. A wrong answer caused by ignoring “incorrect” in the question needs slower inspection. Treating both as a knowledge gap wastes revision time.
For Paper II, practise the actual task. Writing a long opinion piece does not automatically improve precis writing or comprehension. Take a passage, produce your response within a fixed time, and compare it with the original demand. Check whether you retained the main point and avoided adding ideas that were never in the passage.
Put physical requirements on your calendar
The notice gives separate standards and PET requirements, including races, long jump, and the applicable shot-put event. Read the tables for your category and the medical appendix in full. This article deliberately does not reduce eligibility to a single height or running-time number.
Begin by establishing what you can currently do safely. Record the event, conditions, and result so that you can compare like with like later. Avoid treating one unusually good attempt as your normal performance. If you need help assessing fitness or a medical concern, use an appropriately qualified professional; an exam-preparation timetable cannot determine medical eligibility.
Maintain physical practice alongside writing practice. It is easier to adjust a weekly routine early than to compress preparation into the gap after a result.
The verified 2026 result and next action
The CAPF AC 2026 examination page includes the written result uploaded on 25 August 2026, a name list uploaded on 8 September, and a further notice dated 9 September. Open the latest relevant notice and read its submission instructions alongside the result.
Search your full roll number in the correct year's PDF. Keep the complete document, because the next-stage requirements can be more important than the list itself. A written-result listing should never be described as a final appointment.
