CDS result: check your roll number and the next selection stage

Find the correct UPSC CDS result PDF, distinguish written qualification from final selection, and organise the next steps in the official notice.

Check a CDS result on the UPSC Written Results page, then match the examination year and CDS I or CDS II. Open the official PDF and search for your complete roll number. A written-result list is a shortlist for the next stage; read the notice before treating it as final selection.

For a result that has moved off the current page, use UPSC's written-result archive. If you need a final result, look for that document on the examination's own UPSC page instead of reusing the written list.

Check the heading before the number

Keep the roll number from the relevant admit card beside the result PDF. The year in the course commencement date may differ from the examination year. Read the document's examination title to avoid confusing the two.

UPSC's CDS II 2025 examination page illustrates the distinction: it lists written results, a final result and a later revision in merit order as separate documents. Use the matching year's page and read corrections before acting on a saved copy.

Search the PDF on a phone

Download the full file, open it in a PDF reader and use its search or Find option. Enter the entire roll number. If the browser preview will not search properly, use the downloaded file rather than scrolling through a screenshot of a list.

Check a match visually against your admit card. Save the result with a filename that includes the cycle and stage, such as “CDS-II-written-result”, and keep the notice pages with the roll-number list. Those opening pages often contain the instructions you need next.

If you cannot find your number, first confirm that the file is complete and covers the academy or list relevant to you. A marks page, a named list and a roll-number list can appear separately. Search the complete document before drawing a conclusion.

What to do after written qualification

Read the instructions addressed to qualified candidates in that result notice. Make a tracker with an action, official contact or portal, deadline and completion date. Separate interview registration, document submission and any later reporting instructions.

As a historical example, the CDS II 2025 written-result notice described provisional candidature, required original certificates through the relevant service authorities, and told Army-first-choice candidates to register with the recruiting directorate if they had not already done so. It also said not to send original certificates to UPSC. Follow the corresponding instructions for your own cycle; do not reuse the old deadlines or addresses without checking them.

Keep school and degree records consistent with the details in your application. If a document is pending or a detail differs, use the official contact named in your notice to establish what is required. A discussion-group answer cannot approve an exception.

Marks, cut-offs and final results

A written list may not include your marks. Check the marks and cut-off entries separately when UPSC publishes them. Do not turn a coaching estimate into an official qualifying score, or compare a written-stage mark with a final merit total.

If you are preparing for another attempt, use the IMA and OTA paper guide to identify the papers relevant to your preference. Build the next revision plan from the questions you struggled with, rather than relying only on an expected cut-off.

Looking for CDS II 2026 specifically?

This guide's source check on 24 October 2026 did not independently establish the current CDS II 2026 result PDF. Use the official result page or archive above to confirm its status. A search trend or a third-party “result out” headline does not establish your result.

You can also use the official-results directory to find other recruiting authorities while keeping each examination's records separate.
