Office Assistant and Officer Scale I sit under the same IBPS RRB recruitment, but their selection routes differ. If you are applying for Office Assistant, do not copy an officer's interview plan.
Checked 20 September 2026, CRP RRBs-XV: Office Assistant uses prelims and mains, with no interview. Prelims has 40 reasoning questions in 25 minutes and 40 numerical-ability questions in 20 minutes. Mains has 200 questions in 120 minutes and contributes to merit for allotment. See the official RRBs-XV notification.
Train with the section clock
A generic 45-minute practice paper can hide a weakness if it allows free movement between subjects. Match the separate timers when simulating this prelims format. A good reasoning score does not give you extra numerical-ability time.
Try a short diagnostic before buying another resource. Take one reasoning section and one numerical section under the correct limits. Mark where you lost time, then redo only those questions without a timer. If the method is unclear even then, return to the topic. If the solution becomes easy, practise selecting questions and arranging your rough work.
Keep the rough-work layout readable. Number the question beside a calculation or diagram so that returning to it does not mean rebuilding the entire solution.
The missing mains subjects need a place now
English or Hindi, general awareness and computer knowledge require attention beyond the two prelims subjects. Give them regular space while building your speed. Waiting until a result leaves all your weak subjects competing for the same hours.
Choose the language paper you can handle accurately, then practise actual reading and grammar questions in it. Familiar conversation alone does not show how you will perform in a timed written section. For computer work, explain terms in your own words and test them with questions rather than memorising a page of abbreviations.
Awareness revision works better when you revisit a small set of notes repeatedly. Write a question beside each useful fact. Cover the answer and test yourself two days later. Delete duplicate notes instead of letting the folder grow without improving recall.
Use a weekly handover
At the end of a study week, list the questions you still cannot solve independently. Choose the most common underlying gap for the next week. “Percentage change with a different base” is a better repair target than “quant weak”.
Keep one mains session even during a prelims-focused week. It can be a reading set and awareness review rather than a full paper. As prelims readiness improves, expand that session into timed mains sections.
For candidates comparing posts, the Officer Scale I mains and interview guide explains the separate officer route. Do not infer your process from a result notice for another post.
Protect the paperwork as you progress
Create a folder for the application and every call letter, and read each stage's instructions before the exam day. Record the exact post and cycle on your study calendar. “RRB exam” can refer to railway recruitment elsewhere, so use “IBPS RRB Office Assistant” when searching for updates.
Use the exam guide hub for related articles and the official IBPS calendar for the timeline. The official call letter determines your individual reporting arrangements; a general calendar cannot replace it.
